Hi! I'm Jonathan and I’d like to welcome you to my website.

Here, I will share some of the stories and poems that I've written. I write primarily for children, and particularly for a picture book audience (approx. 3-7 years old), although I enjoy creating poems about life and experiences that can appeal to older readers too.

Inspired by song lyrics but lacking in musical ability, I began writing poems in my late teens and enjoyed the challenge of creating a story or message through rhyme. I started writing stories for my own children and this has led me to take picture book writing more seriously, as I work towards becoming a published author.

I have self-published some poetry prints which you can read more about on this site, and you will find a selection of stories and poems for you to enjoy. The stories that feature here are probably more experimental or 'quick stories', i.e. those that I am not intending to take through a more traditional publishing route. You'll also find some characters popping up from time to time as I like drawing too!

 

As well as enjoying the creative process of writing, I aim to connect with the reader and hope that my writing can inspire them; to read, to write, to learn or to engage in positive action that has a beneficial impact on their life and on those around them.
